Be the you that you are
when no one is around
Not the you that you created
so people wouldn’t treat you different
Be the you that’s not afraid
to be just you unashamed
Be the you that’s not in fear
Of what people say
or what they will hear
There’s a you deep down inside
That you’ve carefully learned how to hide
This life’s been a ride
And your still not happy
Trying so hard to be this person
Someone your not is just not working
Shake off this fake
And be your own person
People won’t like that you are unique
But they are still looking for someone to be
Working so hard to always change
Hoping one day they won’t feel so lame
The worlds full of followers
Waiting for new
Which only comes
from someone who’s true
This world has a you
Because it needed a you
So just be that one
That lets the YOU shine through
Don’t apologize
You don’t owe them a thing
But you do owe yourself
A chance to be free
