For My Girl

LBGorman

I know you are fighting with all of your might,
The cancer has caused us all a horrific fright.
I think of the day when we first met,
I said "No way! I don’t want another pet."
But you knew all along what was true,
You and I were soulmates through and through.

I wish forever that you could stay,
You don’t deserve to leave this way.
Unconditional love, kisses, and joys,
That's what you brought me along with your toys.
A wiggle here and a wiggle there,
When you are gone, we won’t be a pair.

I hope you find your brothers when you leave,
Something tells me they will greet you, while I grieve.
Along Heaven’s Beach, you will dance,
Together you three will jump and prance.
They will keep you safe my friend,
Until the day comes for my life here to end.

And then you will see,
Reunited we will be,
To play on the beach and always be free.
