Still You

Pacifique Niyitanga

Hi, are you okay?

I pray you be fine

And get blessings,

All from God.

You're still pretty?

I hope you are, and

You can smile, sing,

and dance at night.

Do you remember?

Me and the old you,

Our moves, my jokes

And your laughter.

Do you sleep at night?

Like you used to, with—

your arms spread out

And talk from dreams.

Can you wink now?

I still remember you,

Your eyes off glasses,

And your tomatoes.

Tell me, can you play?

Cards or crosswords,

Or find the difference

In the pictures.

You still eat or drink?

Is tofu still delicious,

Or your throat can't—

Sound as it used to.

Do you even know?

That I kiss and cuddle

Your pictures and the—

letter you wrote to me.

Hmm, you're sad now?

Forgive me, forget it.

It's not the first time,

But this is the last one.

Please, can you?

Take this as no offense,

And delete if you want,

But read this "I love you."

We've been busy for a month if I can say: no talk. But she read the letter and she said words with happiness
