Wrong Body

Paul Bell

Your Haunting death

Like your life

Still leave them cold

They search for reasons

Answers that defy questions

Remember what you told me

Wrong body, wrong time

But not to worry

Get it right next time

So I tell them

Wrong body, wrong time

They can’t define

You were on such a high that night

We laughed until dawn

The final toast

As you lay upon

That haunting smile goodbye

Before you died

One more for the road

Keepsake to the good times

One glass left behind

See you next time my friend

New body, right time.

This truly brings to the fore what beauty is all about.. our beauty is within and not the body we occupy.

So heartbreakingly sad when a beautiful person is taken by a physical ailment (for sake of a better word).

But if our path is to continue without their presence then so be it until such time as all will be revealed in another place.

Your words really soaked into me today. Thank you for sharing what looks like a very personal write.

It's strange how we accept death, we plan for it, but we're never really ready for it. How can we be? We honor the lost one, and keep the memory alive. So well penned, thank you.

I suppose we're all one memory from being a memory.
