Love, are you sweet?
There are lovers I meet
Who say you are accurate and sweet
But have they ever tried Lolipop sweets?
Or honey, ice cream, banana and meat?
Love, these are things you cannot beat
How ever much you try, you cannot out complete.
Love, are you really sweet?
I pity lovers whom you mistreat
When you leave, alone they walk down streets
when you leave, alone one sits on the love seat
With their hearts pounding like a drum beat
You should see a broken lover at night, late
They lay awake without bed sheets
Love you are not sweet.
You bump into us and ask “trick or treat”
Then you strike and knock lovers off their feet
Hurting like Hell’s heat
Then you separate them apart, six or seven feet
Oh Lord, instead send me milk and honey to eat
And if you may send love, send it with sleep
For love is not quite sweet.
