Tune: Crucifer
('Lift high the cross')
Luke 22 v.39-46
*********
Chorus
Gethsemane, the way unto the cross
Jesus would suffer to redeem man's loss
Disciples with Him in the garden stayed
Spirits willing, yet flesh tiredness displayed - Chorus
Jesus said, Pray here, so that you not fall
Into temptation, nor your journey stall - Chorus
He went little way from them and did pray
Father, remove this cup [of suffering] if it be your way - Chorus
Nevertheless not what I will, but your
Will be done, grant me strength to obey sure - Chorus
An angel strengthened Him, He did sweat blood
In agony, yet for us a cleansing flood - Chorus
Lord, help us pray, that sleep us not o'ercome
Progressing each day to our heavenly home - Chorus

Thanks Orchi for an apt reminder of this special time of the year to many a Christian,
Thanks Fay.
Thanks for posting! Important reminder to christians this time of year!
Thanks Christina. I wanted to remember. Shame on some places, that must have 'Choruses' yet again, 52 weeks of the year! Half of them seem to clear off at Christmas and Easter.
a fine hymnal poem I'm sure sir .. 🙂
Thanks N.
Beautiful Orchi absolutely beautiful
Thanks Blue. As I said to Christina above, it's a bit 'ropey' at some places, who hardly know what a hymn book is! Can't get the staff these days?!
Haha, love it anyway
Beautifully written Orchi
Thanks SC.
