Pick my pocket

sorenbarrett

President Clinton once said “There is never enough money”

Taxation is supposed to fix this deficit, don't you think it funny

Taxed for each breath taxed for each death

Every thought and what you bought

For feeling love or hate if your early or late

Taxed for each time you have sex, or even if your muscles flex

Taxed for your beliefs, and your griefs

Taxed for your dreams, and days with sun beams

And how long you sleep, or if you weep

Property taxes for the homeless, Income tax for the unemployed

Sales tax for thieves, taxed for anything you enjoyed

To fund

Programs to see, if syphilis causes harm to you or me

Cameras for the blind, teaching cannibalistic baby rapists to be kind

Atomic rockets, cash to put in politicians pockets

Bandages to save the planet, citizen monitoring even though they've banned it

This is government at it’s best

God save the king!

To hell with the rest

Wow what an eye opener of a poem sorenbarrett! I thought I paid a lot of taxes, but then you have to think what are they for? Great job!!

Thanks for your review Christina. I thought that since tax day is about due in the United States it might be time for this. Thanks for your kind words

I think my head just exploded; yep, there it is all over the keyboard. You have a way of hitting the proverbial nail on the head, really hard. I can now stop muttering all those things to myself, and sit down peacefully, enjoy my book and my cup of tea. Loved it!!!
