Cricket

Hakikur Rahman

Inside twenty-two yards
Twenty-two players
The game is very exciting
It's been around the whole day.

Sometimes in white ball
Sometimes this game is going to be on red ball
It's not a play of force
They say that they only need intellectualism.

Test, one-day, T-Twenty
These three ways can be played in this game
Types of variations in over
Play this game on the field.

If the ball touches the fence touching the ground
Then there are fours
And if the ball does not touch the boundary liner
It's six, and how nice it is to see.

Let's play around the whole world
Let's play the game of bat and ball
Let's stay throughout the year
In all the playgrounds.

    loved cricket, practise
(although, not so much the bruises
    I don't think people, realise
    the speeds those dense balls
    come flying at you)
    lol
    but I couldn't play a whole game
    without getting distracted
still, I laud the skill of those
    great's..
    artist's, like
    Sachin, Gayle and Afridi
    were amazing
but my favourite was always Lara
made it look, so naturally beautiful
and then all rounder geniuses like Flintoff
were just wondrous to be hold on their day..
    admittedly
    I'm not its biggest fan,
(its my beloved football, that pulses in my heart)
    but
I have a lot of respect for this
    most elegant of sports..
thanks for sharing your ode, dear poet
    a lovely, informative read
