THE DOG OF DEUTSCHLAND

Piyush Sonarikar

The dog arose from his grave

after thirty years of rigorous solitude,

His motive was bohemian,

He presented a challenge to the unscrupulous light,

The light that had questioned his potency,

Striking his very soul ridiculing its might,

The poet in him was dead,

Such was his plight.

The light materialised a mirror,

Abode to the unfazed sinner,

Who ate apathetic egos for dinner,

His reflection reduced to a mere prisoner.

The dog acknowledged the greatness of his opponent,

He bestowed upon him the trashing of a rodent,

Numerous battles fought between

the two pleading for atonement,

Their murder justified by the

light as a deponent.

Dedicated to all and none
