Tattoo

It’s a mark that tells a story sad but true

Colored and displayed for all to read

A memorial of a time that I got through

Maybe even a conversation piece indeed

They say the soul’s windows are the eyes

But sometimes it takes a little better view

A painful little reminder to make you wise

A motto or symbol of what is true of you

So not everyone gets it and that’s okay

But before you pass judgement so fast

Maybe you should ask their story one day

You might think differently at the last

Could be you see another side of them

Even if it’s something you’d never do

For me it’s not just something of a whim

I’ve thought a long time about this tattoo

    personally
I think no one, should dictate
    what you can or should
    or should not, do
    with your body
be it, tattoo's or anything else..
    some of the most, considerate
    and wise people
I have met in my life, have tattoos and piercings
    galore..
yet, its just a form of expression
    to them
a way to deal-with or release or immortalise
    something they're going through
    or have survived..
    (but, tattoo's
    as trend frenzy, fashion fads
is just an idiotic notion, to me
    forgive me..)
    so well reasoned and written
    thanks for sharing, dear poet

LB, yes I agree about people I’ve met too. Tatted and pierced alike have been some genuine and good hearted souls. Of course to Tat or not to tat, doesn’t make the person, their words and actions do. Thanks for engaging in the conversation.
