A Memento of You and I

Keith

A brief moment

A candle lit

A wine poured

A cake slowly sliced

The crackle of a fire

The purr of a cat

The beat of your heart

A word on a page

A poem on my tongue

And a silence outside

So deep and dark

So deliciously dark

That envelops our house

And holds us

Safe and daringly alone

Like a boat

Moored in a remote harbour

Where we can be together

Really together

For a brief moment.
