I’d waited and wandered,
and time I had squandered
in search of my bonnie, wee lass.
Through seasons of sorrows
and tragic tomorrows
my missing her just wouldn’t pass.
I felt it worth waiting,
with breath held and bating
for girl with a face, oh, so fair.
For she was my first love,
my one only true love,
my rose of romance, oh, so rare!

Dear Kevin,
I love your poem(s) dedicated to your
‘bonnie wee lass, Lorraine’.
It has been worthwhile and a blessing for you to wait and finally be with your first love.❤️
Perhaps love does conquer all.
Have a super day with your goddess.
Laura🌻
Many thanks. Laura
Lovely poem.
thank you
Beautiful wee poem Kev. You're a lucky man
Thank you, Saxon
I think Burns, himself
would cherish the worded devotion
in this poem
what a fantastic, song
to serenade your Lorraine with..
and I can't help, comparing your lines
favourably to his
in that triumphant, 'red red rose':
'So fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.
Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.'
(may your life's cups
be ever filled with each others, kindness
stay blessed, dear poet)
Thanks LB. Yeah, I love that poem by Burns. Maybe, unconsciuosly, it was my inspiration. Again, many thanks for your support.
This poem is stellar and I LOVE your rhyme scheme! What a grand tribute to your love and I hope she adores it! Just wonderful!
Thank you, Christina. I think the secret is letting your rhymes flow naturally, without forcing them to fit. Again, thank you for your continued support.
