Remembering You

Dr S

Your smile beaming back at me,

Next to her, cheek to cheek.

Ballet, Bath, swimming in the sea.

It was all gone in over a week.

She changed something in you, for better or worse.

You broke conformity; a taste of what you could be,

But it ended too soon, she made clear you would not be hers.

Where are you now, that man who used to be me?

9 views and no likes? Let's fix that. Regret is a powerful thing. I've done so many things that have potential as regrets, but I have to accept that what I did at the time was the decision I chose to make. I can't ever be the me from the past, I'm different from even 5 seconds ago and while writing this I might have changed. Maybe we don't truly go anywhere, we just think we do. Either way, I enjoyed the read.

Thanks for your comments! Very good point that we are ever changing from one moment to the next, even if minutely.

Beautiful.. I like the simple words you use in creating the poetry..and that its not overdone.. it sounds true.. maybe because it reflects your experience and feelings, just what poetry is for.. a space of eternity)

Many thanks 🙂 Yes, a reflection of my feelings towards that relationship when I wrote those words... I'll probably have a slightly different reflection if I wrote it now
