Being unfamiliar with Daoist philosophy I looked it up. The uncarved block is played upon by life, may suffer scars but can be soothed in the end. I love the symbolism and wonderful message of the piece. Not sure if I got it right , but I loved reading it.

1st verse is typeset to change
form as wind, rain and ice scrape
and gouge. In these lines letters
are reduced, attempting to convey
the etching of the surface.
I have just enhanced these visual props.
The Uncarved block represents both animate and abstract concepts from the spirit to ideology, society and civilization. In the Tao of Pooh by Benjam Hoff, Pooh is likened to the block but Hoff then suggests that Pooh Bear is too simple to bear comparison.
