A Rodeo of A Poem

L. B. Mek

Some poetry writes itself easily

Lego pieces matching stressed syllables

Aesthetic word counting as artistry

Unstressed wordplay of Poesy’s intangibles

Life, refutes Artistry’s mirages

Like stressed minds forcedly inking rhymes

Throughout their stormy lives

Throwing umbrellas at reality’s, hailstones

Sometimes, even bookended rhymes

or schemes, can’t make

our posing for effect, half

-truth’s flow, between doubting pulses

Let it be then, willingly

Free your words to cascade, smoothly

Tattoo that canvas, prioritising sincerity

Free-form Poetics, empowered by veracity

Share boldly, like having a conversation

with a person you’re invested, in

while trying not to make it a word puzzle

That only intellectuals, can unravel

Most of all, remember to have fun

Poetry, is an endeavour of passion

If you’re doing it for recognition

Or societal success, better try

advertising Jingles, instead…

writing anything truly, Poetic

with an Ardent, idea

that perfect-fit, end rhyme

then hold-on, tight

as that imagination, miracle

of inspiration’s fluid ink

gushes-out-of-you in a creative

pulsing, waterfall - erupting

delightfully, from somewhere

serene, deep within!

Beautiful writing Mek .. really like your words 🙂 to be honest I think if we try too hard in writing .. overthink or judge our words , that can interfere and maybe even affect our writing or enjoyment of it . It’s much easier and nicer for me to write when I feel In the flow ..

    A lovely poem

    • L. B. Mek

      Perfectly surmised and summarised...
      thank you! dear Poet

Loud applause for this masterclass written on behalf of freeing the poet inside to pen better their efforts at letting out natural waterfalls of ardent words. This gem must go into my faves. dear friend.

as-ever, I'm humbled by your mere presence
on one of my feeble scribbles, dear Fay

Very nicely penned LB and I agree wholeheartedly with every line. Poetry is a cathartic process with every line.

Personally whenever I write I go to war with myself. I bleed, I struggle, and I may not even win. But when I do, that's the bliss right there. An intriguing take on what it means to write something. Nice work L.B.

            • L. B. Mek

              thank you! dear Poet
your insightful points, go a long way
              to adding brevity's, depth
              to my humble words

            • Distant View

Poetry can take many forms, but the best efforts are always the ones that are not forced, be they structured rhyme or free write. I love to tackle different poetry forms, but sometimes the words just flow freely, and whether others regard that as poetry or not it can be the most expressive. And, poetry is very much about expression. A good write!

              • L. B. Mek

'poetry is very much about expression.'
so very true! thank you dear poet

              • Rocky Lagou

As always I'm enamored by your words. Your metaphors and images never fail to impress. True message as well. That part about people writing for recognition speaks true to many. One should write from the heart and what they truly want to express, recognition is incidental.

                • L. B. Mek

I'm not sure about incidental, but yes
I too, recognise your insightful sentiment's..
                  Personally, I think
just do what you want, however you want
                  when it comes to Poetry
be a stalwart of form and rules
or write two words and regard it, as majestic
Poesy really has no borders, it's just
don't expect some semblance of success
to come in the usual earthly forms
                  of recognition or fiscal rewards
it may happen, and if it does - Fantastic!
we'll all cheer for you, wholeheartedly
for being one of the few
but of it doesn't, 'simply, let it be'
don't ever, let it get in the way
                  of your passion for Poetry...
                  (and as-ever
thank you! for your encouraging gestures
                  of support, dear Poet)

                    thank you Michael!
as-ever, I keep my fingers crossed
that all is well, my friend

Such true words Mek, writing comes from many places but they always come from our hearts.

I love this line. My poetic pulse is often full of doubt. Your work is magical. And I look forward to reading so much here.

L.B. somehow I missed this one along the way. A poem for poets, so refreshing. Such good advice in poetic form, looking in from another dimention. I loved the rushing flow as it neared the end and the rodeo ride of the last stanza "then hold-on, tight
                                  as that imagination, miracle
