I couldn't meet you
nor could I hold you
in my arms...
Soft and fluffy,
delicate yet strong,
you with your
playful frolicking
was so dear to us...
Though miles apart
you were mine too.
The moments that
I could share with you
though virtually
gave me so much happiness
moments that are still fresh
in my mind...
The way you cock your ears
the way you play and eat.
The joy and happiness
that you gave us during
the few days you lived
pacifies me a lot...
You had a good life
loved and cared for
by many...after being rescued...
Thumper, our little bunny
may you be blessed and happy
in your afterlife too...

- Comment from author about the poem: Thumper , my son's pet rabbit passed away last night. Writing a poem about Thumper was cathartic for me.

Aww porr little thing only lived a few days. Where was Thumper rescued from.
A nice tribute to a family friend, and an important write helping your son know about and learn about dealing with deaths.
Thumper was left by his owner at a boarding place and my son's friend took him in. He then stayed for a few weeks with my son. He lived happily after being rescued, loved to eat a lot and used to run about and play happily.
may that bundle of joy, rest in peace
I'm sorry for your loss
often, our pets highlight the beauty
in our family, life..
thanks for sharing
Our pets are a part of us. He's laid to rest properly , he had a happy life, he was friends with mother cat Bonnita. Both of them used to snuggle up together. Mother cat Bonnita had lost her kittens so she adopted Thumper.
