Spring

Michael William Reid

The days of spring smell so sweet

As it shuffles off the snow

The budding green of awaited life

As it lifts its head to grow

The trees sway in the breeze

Studded all over with green

As if talking to each other

About the winter they have just seen

The birds cry out their happiness

Their lilting song is sung

The animals lift their heads to the sky

Happy winters cold is done

The beauty of this springtime day

Is a treasure to behold

The purest treasures on this earth

Cannot be bought or sold
