Strange Meeting

hzugman

The dog looked eerily familiar

No collar or tag or chip

It came my way with tail erect but eyes downcast and weepy

It's not my job to cure all ills I've got enough to do

“Shoo!”, I said to drive it off but it was not deterred

A voice within me said ,”be quiet” and quiet I became.

The next thing slipping from my mouth was,” Doggie what's your name?”

It made no reply but then crept closer

To sum it up I took it in and fed it what I et

The poor thing's with me yet.

This tale of happenstance must come to and end

And yes you guessed it that lost mutt is now my own best friend.
