Daughter Of A King

Jaydejohannayoung

20 years of loving you without needing to try,

"Never giving up on  me and telling me "it's okay to have a cry"

Taking me to London to work on photography,

Surprising me at skating comps and buying me costa coffee.

Family holidays in the sun to both Portugal and France,

Driving home as Santa demonstrating the Christmas trance.

Shopping Sainsbury well and grabbing all the treats,

Yet pulling every dinner out the bag with three ingredients and a drink.

I can't express how I idolize you every single day,

Even in your bad mood when you've chucked my boyfriend's away.

Somehow you always know what to do, to make my smile expand,

Whether this be a tight cuddle or a "ratbite" until I can barely stand.

I've never understood how you've blossomed into such a wonderful man,

When you never came from half the father you are  -but then again no one ever can.

I want you to know how proud I am even when I walk into your work,

And how grateful I am to cherish a man who is so talented but just can't twerk!

The smile on your face when I passed my driving test,

All shows me everything a daughter should feel to know she is the best.

The pending tears in your eyes when you saw me in my prom dress,

The movie nights and tight cuddles, your heart beating - obsessed.

Remember the time you took me to get my blood test done,

The magazines were a load of 'shit' everything far from fun.

The uncontrollable laughter and the loud football cheers,

Your blanket cuddled close to you while you sip on another beer.

My dad is like a shadow,

That could never get in the way,

A friend to many, he makes them laugh by a Facebook post a day.

Quick-witted and affectionate,

Compassionate and profound,

Devotedness and unhinged,

He is the King of the world I crown.

When I can only give 1% he'll give the other 90,

Helping me me with my maths homework so I can walk into class almighty.

Protective and loved in many ways,

I hope this is "English" enough to make your day.

Hand in hand through my childhood dreams,

You made it all less scary than life is shown to be.

I couldn't have asked for better guidance than you.

Dad from your little girl - I love you.
