Curious Rover

Maheer Mollick

The day I saw you the first time,
You felt like a pleasant breeze.
And with you by my side,
It all went with ease.

Every story has an end, they say,
Why did our have to end so fast?
It all started going downhill,
Just when I felt it would forever last.

You came by and started drifting away,
Like a wave from the sea shore.
And in doing so you deposited me there,
And then inside my mind were questions galore.

Did you not tell me it would last forever?
Why then did you have to break it all?
Did you not promise unity in this endeavour?
Why then did this parting have to befall?

And amidst my crowding chaos,
To you I raise a toast.
Although you left me all alone,
All alone when I needed you the most!
