A Simple Compliment

burnuracount

As I awaken to the sound of falling raindrops

I’m yet to be happy

I was brought into this world without my consent

Now do I want to leave it with my consent?

Struggling to get out of bed my body aching

I go to brush my teeth as I haven’t in a week

I then go to change my clothes

I walk out the door, no sun insight

Startup my car to go to work

Long drive as usual

I get out of my car and walk into the building

Goto my cubical and start the day

I hear a sound and as I turn around

It’s Emma

She says “New shoes?”

I say “Yeah”

Oh, they’re neat!

“Thank you,” I say, smiling

 to myself I say

Is that all I needed?

Just a simple compliment?

Beautiful. Sometimes it's that simple but not having that outlet makes us sink deeper.
