The Painted Lady Butterfly

Jackie

A beautiful exotic, painted lady butterfly, flew through an opened window. She was mesmerized by the soft music floating through the window. She ascended on the velvet curtains decorated with her favorite foods: hollyhocks, and sunflowers. A few minutes later she spread her 3-inch ruffled, orange and black wings and danced to the soft music. This dance performance is a ritual performed by all painted lady  butterflies to spread hope, inspiration, and joy before they die. They die two to three weeks after emerging from their cocoon. A half an hour later into the butterfly's dance she is startled by a young boy's footsteps, and she flies away.
