Infatuation

M. Evermore

We met when I was seven or so

I didn’t know you well, so…

But then I saw you when I was nine-years-old

And I don’t know

There was something,

Something had changed

All I knew was that you were funny and made me laugh

And it was crazy,

That I’d do anything you asked

Take my hand

Meet my eyes

Smile

I’d give you the sun and moon and me

But then…

You were gone

Like a whisper of wind

Nothing but memories left behind

You didn’t even try and say goodbye

It’s been six years since I missed my chance

To kiss you and tell you

That I loved you

But you’re not here and I still am

And I’ve moved on

From what once was our story

And from you

And if I still look around this small town

In hopes of finding someone new,

I’d never tell

That I was looking for you
