Close to me
No, no, my love,
tell me you’re not leaving.
No, my love, please tell me you will stay.
It’s not possible, my love.
Please let me hold you close to me.
To lose your love would still my soul.
Let me hold you close to me.
My dreams would turn to cold and lonely
if I didn’t have you near.
There’d be no tenderness, no feelings
only make-believe of every sweet caress
of your golden hair when I held you
close to me.
If he wins you, all I have are memories.
Cold and lonely dreams of yesterday.
Dreams that make me gloomy
and my heart stands still.
Oh, how I fear the ghosts of yesterday.
So, my love, I ask again for you to stay
and let me hold you close to me
What in the world can I do without you?
If it's not you, no one else will do.
I’ll miss you and my arms will reach for you
‘til the end of this world. So please
be close to me
Even though you may not love me.
I can’t stop myself from loving you.
Don’t break this heart in two.
Time won’t heal my heart
and words I have won’t bring you back.
There’s only emptiness beyond.
So, please come back
and please be close to me.

sweet words of a gentleman
Thanks VB - Glad you enjoyed it.
'Even though you may not love me.
I can’t stop myself from loving you'..
(this, be that cruelty of Cupid's
arrows
piercing blood, form the outset)..
so much impassioned honesty
in these words, dear poet
so , so relatable
thank you!
Thank you, L. B. Much appreciate your comments and encouragement.
Agonizing words. So much despair in the lines. I can imagine the pain and hopeless helpless feeling of the writer.
Thanks, Rozina - Just to highlight one side of a breakup.
