As long as there are no longer
tears of sorrow and regret
May the kindest gestures
of filial affection ever beget;
our friendship has been
blest from shore to shore,
each wondrous exchange
our devotions now restore

('filial'
what an archaic word
in modernity's, me and I: reality!
just watch the film, Tokyo Story 1953
then realise how many decades
its been, since
its depicted filial disintegration
and that things have only
been exponentially degrading...)
sorry about my tangent, really
a good read you shared, dear poet
especially
like the wording of your title
Many factors such as line lengths and rhythm influence diction; plus archaic should never mean the death of certain words- some of them are very useful still. Thanks for your much appreciated remarks. 🙂
Lovely.
Thanks, Vaughn.
