The Gun

Bijapur1993

GUN

Gun you are powerful and strong

You are mighty, a soul of steel

You have no life of your own

But become monstrous , in the hands of wrong.

I was a child, full of life and play

Finest creation, of youth and beauty

By the creator of all,

Put to end by a mad man’s bullet.

I had a Dream, of Love and Peace

I had a dream to make my parents smile

I had a dream, to walk on the red carpet

Put to end by a mad man’s bullet.

I had a dream to skip and jump

To soak in the rain and play snow balls

To dance in spring and sing in summer

Put to an end by a mad man’s bullet.

I had a dream to grow up strong and powerful

To build businesses and eradicate poverty

To do research and bring in good health

Put to an end by a mad man’s bullet.

I had a dream to chase the squirrels

To feed the birds and listen to their Divine song

To caress my cat and walk my dog

Put to an end by a mad man’s bullet

Oh , Gun , what have done , what have you done, taken a life so young and innocent.

You don’t need to be in every nook and corner

You were born for a greater purpose

For peace and the rule of law.

Oh Gun, whose blood is there on your barrel

Oh it’s mine own,

All my dreams

Put to an end by a mad man’s bullet.

    (thanks for sharing
such an important and timely write
    and helping inspire
    my little, scribbled reply)..
    gun's existed before, school shootings
banning the gun's, will only put other weapons
    in those vile perpetrators hands..
we need to address the real
    societal issues
at root of the broken minds
    that commit such crimes..
gun's are just a target for politics and press
to lament over, and merely a drop in the ocean..
    the cultural cesspool
    that cultivates
    the complex circumstances
    that cyclically, recreates
    a pattern for this, tragedies
    to emerge
    from a supposedly, civilised
    humanity..
    needs to be tackled!
    'in my humble opinion'
