Yesteryou

MotleyMused

Yesteryou

I wish I could tell you then, what I know now

That it will be okay

That for as desperate and alone as you feel

One day you will rejoice in your solitude

There will be no void to fill

That the yearning will not break you, that it will ebb and flow and fade

Into a quiet acknowledgment

In time, you will kiss your own wounds

trace the shimmering lines of your scars

Reverent

For your body has always been a temple too holy for any god

Or man

to desecrate
