Uvalde

LostLoner

(In the memories of Joe and Irma Garcia, the latter of whom was a teacher slain at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas on May 24, 2022)

Love was simply too strong
For a man to last long,
Without the wife who died
From evil that deprived.

Two teachers, 19 kids,
Dead, and a school now rid
With blood and bullet holes,
A town shattered in soul.

Make that three adults now,
In a world asking how,
For there was a husband
Whose heart ached to its end.

All because the wrong man
Got a rifle and ran
Into a school, and cops
Could have but didn't stop.

It's hard to say how I feel now. We all go over the same old ground through life and sometimes it seems pointless and bitter. 🙂
