Stifle thine hubris

A.B. Jakobsen

There exists an abyss unbeknownst to most

Have you heard its call or seen its ghost?

Should one claim mastery of the breathing beyond

Outer horrors would govern to respond

How could one assert such conceit?

When they are tricked by its mercurial deceit

As he who claims himself most wise

But dismayed when truth befalls his eyes

Watchers have seen only its wake

But retold of its horrible shape

And passed their jester crowns down

To let arrogance submerge town after town
