The sun and moon

Michael William Reid

Night and day day and night

The continuing struggle the eternal fight

Like a dog who chases his tail around

The sun goes up the moon comes down

The sun with its bright golden glow

Bathing the earth far below

Brings light and life and warmth to feel

Round and round a spinning wheel

The moon comes out to chase the sun

Cool relaxing darkness when the day is done

Spreading its shadowy cloak across the earth

The eternal symbol of death and rebirth

So round and round they dance and chase

And neither sees the others face

So when you look into the sky

Enjoy the dark or shade your eyes

Just enjoy the golden beauty of the day

And love the night when the moon will play

This was beautiful the way you referenced to the sun and moon as more or less; frenemies, each fighting to be eternal. I for one loved this poem. I like to see other peopleĀ“s viewpoints. In my eyes, I have always seen the sun and moon as distant partners you know? That work together but your poem was refreshing and I prefer your take on it. It's always nice to know others persepctives

Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me know that you enjoyed it. The idea came to me as I was working outside on the road and the whole thing just flowed out of me

It definitely made we stare at the moon and reflect.
