Solitude

peppino

Faithful companion of my life

Solitude so cherished and desired

You often visit me without invite

From loneliness you grant soothing respite

My restive mind no longer finds repose

Wandering through dark alleys of the unknown

When the sun shines or has gone to rest

I wait for you, with peace I may be blest

Sometimes you come to visit me at dawn

Before the sun announces a new day

Birds are dancing joyfully in the air

Nature is resplendent with new flair

Soft caresses are your waking calls

You awake my mind with a gentle kiss

Disperse the clamor that torments my soul

Your presence does so sweetly console

Sometimes you visit later at night

When the sun is at rest in dreamy sleep

The stars are shining dots so far away

Darkness has subdued the light of day

You welcome me with a tight embrace

To my weary mind you show your face

To my heart you sing a lullaby

We are joined in peace, just you and I.

I'm very comfortable with being alone and for me this piece re-enforces why.
