A letter from the sky

sadkw33n

It's been a couple of days since i last heard you call me name

Those tears that you now shed for me i wish i could erase

My body lifeless on the street, what a sight to witness

I filled my lungs one last time, that breath was full of sweetness

Combined with the fading sirens and the concrete's warmth

It felt like i was on my bed and you were singing a song

To put me in a peaceful sleep, like when i was a child

Now, mother, i peacefully sleep with no worries in mind

Though my heart aches from all your painful cries

From all the words you say sobbing under starlit skies

How i wish that you could hear me answering your call

But all you know right now is that you've lost your only son

But, mother, I'll be there to guard you as you sleep

I promise to watch over you like you watched over me

Though i wish you could've seen me as a groom or a father

Instead, above a stone cold grave, i see you crying mother

My life was cut short but i cherise the little things

You and dad, my friends, my house, oh i was richer than kings

Maybe there were some sorrows and we hand nasty falls

But i am sure i had a life that was worth living for

I know I'll be remembered, now let me fly just like a dove

I see the gates are open wide in the heavens up above

I promise you I'll be okay, i will too miss you mom

Now i have to move on, my time here is up

Remember that i love you

Sincerely,

Your son

    I'm sorry for your loss
indeed, may he rest in peace
this is a complex and impressive
    poetically ambitious, undertaking
    and brave..
    thanks for sharing

Thank you very much for commenting. He was a very joyful kid. It's sad he had to die so suddenly and so young. Thank you for taking the time to read my poem and for your flattering words my friend! Have a great day!

I am so sorry for your loss😔 you have composed this piece in his point of view which makes it more sad. Thanks for sharing! His soul was taken up too soon, May he Rest In Peace!

Thank you. He was really kind and had a great sense of humour. We were never close since we lived far from each other. But every time we would meet he would treat me like he knew me for the longest time. He was really social and caring. Thanks for commenting ❤️

The best of people are taken up too early. I am sure he is watching you from above❤️

          • sadkw33n

Well, that's a comforting thought. I hope he's watching over his devastated mother more than anyone. He was an only child. His mother only had him, he was her entire world. It's true the best of people are taken too early, but i hope there are more than a few left out there who will live long lives and grace us with their kindness. I'd like to try to be one of them...

I hope so too, and I am sure that your presence already brightens the lives of people around you! We might not be perfect but we can always try!
