War a great cost.

lexi.martis0828

The shells that are fired

cause hearts to pound

echoes of gunfire

overtake every sound

seven feet deep

six feet wide

riddled with rats

the trenches we hide

bombs dropped

from planes overhead

increase our anxiety

and fill us with dread

covered in maggots

thick with flies

the bodies of soldiers who've died.

troops deployed?

lives destroyed

gun shots ring

tears stream

loved ones lost

do you see the high cost?

    graphically grotesque imagery
    but with purpose!
    so very well written
    'in my humble opinion'..
    thanks for sharing

All for some clowns' ego, who no doubt we'll be trading with again.

Indeed. I've lost family and seen family lose their minds. It's not worth it
