Price of Affliction

moonfire

You gave me all the joys the Universe could create
Indebted as much as I am to you,
I repaid by smiling through all the pain,
Even endured the piercing showers of rain.

Only He knows the end of it,
The price I am paying with each of my breath.

  • Comment from author about the poem: In one's own way, one endures.. gets drenched in the hateful showers.. grits teeth to the point of enamel erosion to defy the heart.. the price one pays to get accustomed to the harsh pain.
