Love if…

Ras ad-Din

What could I've done
if I had never loved?
Perhaps, I could
just have forgotten you
and lived again
without any doubt...
But that's impossible -
I know what love is
and it knows me -
it conducts me simply.
My life is love,
so limitless and wide
that I can hardly see
what it is doing to me -
that's regretful.
But why am I so happy
to love and hope
every time in vain
to be loved, too?
I do not know,
although I do -
this is my life,
my final goal
and my pass to heaven.
