The Song

Paul Bell

Murder is always dangerous
They tend to investigate murders
Now accidents
They tend to happen
Randomly
So, an accident it had to be then
She liked her bubble bath
Liked to listen to her music while relaxing
Seemed the obvious way then
Now all was needed was the execution
But more importantly
The alibi
He would be abroad when it happened
The simple rise in water as she entered the bath
The final song as she switched her music on
The extra hidden wire just to make sure
He would have that look of devastation
The breakdown
But the money would ease the pain
They would investigate
Of course, they would
They wouldn’t find anything
Eventually they would pay out
Something troubled him though
Just that niggling doubt
Kept nagging at him
What the hell was her final song.

A hard read of a crime scene, investigations would see through made up pursuits for dollars, you should stick with blue collars. Well thought out murders will get you put in jail house uniforms, they don’t care your heart is torn. What she slept with your best boha? Her last song must have been “give me some more.”

Sadly it was. You're leaving home.

The swan song? I'm sure it would be electrifying or at least shocking. Loved it
