Poetry Is You

Charles Edward York

Poetry is beautiful truth

written to woo you.

The sound of Sun stroking

green leaves into gold at sunrise.

A lovely melody wrapped in a voice

Sung to sway you

And my two eyes silently capturing

Yours to arrest and adore you.

Poetry is the undeniable words

By the scribe to seduce you

The language that lures

Loops and lassos

The luminous heart of the moon

And lights you up

Bringing out all the beauty

And unspoken passions of you.

Poetry is the quintessential lips

The expression of everything

You are and much more

Glowing in the universe

All I can imagine

Flowing from an invisible river

Across the waiting page

Telling everyone poetry is you.
