When I saw my childhood picture,
I wondered that that girl
Was just a small girl,
Playing with her doll
And now, it's all gone.
She was just a small girl,
Who used to read stories,
And now, can't tell her own story.
She was just a small girl,
Who knew nothing about the world,
And now, to survive, she is forced to
Be like the world wants her to be.
She was just a small girl,
For whom money was just a piece of paper,
And now, it became precious
Than her own life.
She was just a small girl,
Who was carefree,
And now, she needs to take care of
Her every step and word.
She was just a small girl,
Whose self-love was once innocence,
And now it's her selfishness.
She was just a small girl,
Who used to believe in something that never existed,
And now, it's hard for her to believe
Even those who exist around her.
She was just a small girl,
Who used to scream over a small scratch,
And now, remains quiet even when
Blood drains out of her body for days.
She was just a small girl,
Who had huge dreams to fulfill,
And now, only nightmares
Of her past haunts her.
She was just a small girl,
Who had plans to change the society,
But the society changed HER.

- Comment from author about the poem: Hey my readers! This is my first poem which I wrote randomly. I tried to highlight the changes a girl faces when she grows up. I hope my female readers would be able to relate to it and love it!!
