Eyes And Echoes

Charles Edward York

Your eyes inspire

a thousand ships to sail

towards the New World

and never look back.

Somewhere

in this dark and lonely universe

you found me

and something inside

I thought was asleep

has amazingly awakened.

On your shores

a thirsty man

has found an oasis.

A treasure trove

of desires and emotions

rise as heatwaves

from my cold, lonely heart

and a hunger

I thought I didn’t have

starts an insatiable

yearning for your delights

and your company.

Eyes and echoes

ripple across in waves

gazing at you

gazing at me

turning two into we

and suddenly

in the infinite is born

a new cosmos

a place where you and I

never end or begin

A circle of feelings

surround us,

speaking in tongues

that return as a kiss

and then another

until more and more

our eyes close

and our lips echo

what we knew all along

a secret surprise

bearing two wings

ready to fly!
