Unfaltering Hoax

Ella Knix

7 years back

I took to change

From comfort to growth

Thriving, he found me

So charming, so present

His wit pricked my organs

A permanent stain on me

For 7 years now

Few words exchanged

I awoke last night

Crying for a hoax

Today was goodbye

  • Comment from author about the poem: This was a very "out of the blue" move from my part. This person, who by all means is not a good man and did commit dangerous acts of betrayal, really captivated me when we met 7 years ago. And although our interaction was very short lived, thanks to social media we remained "in each others" life. I'm in a pretty vulnerable stage in my life, and occasionally I would fantasize about this person in a very different light. Most definitely falling for a hoax of a person. Today I decided to finally close that door. I felt like i needed to create something out of it. Thank you for reading. Stay safe.

Sometimes things and people are best left in the past.

So true. Not everybody you meet is meant to stay.
