Flowers, pretty flowers, who will buy them?
Mayhaps you need them for a dear friend
Flowers, beautiful flowers, pretty and cheap
Well adorn the bride, and make her look sweet
Taken from hedges and vales quite deep
Here are the flowers gathered in a heap
Buy these pretty flowers from Lancashire
To and for your heart’s desire
Here are pretty roses
For the jovial, young and gay
Sweet and well-scented
They bloom most in May
Then there are the lilies
Pure, white and holy
Their smooth, snow-white petals
Win them admirers many..
So, won't you buy these flowers
They are used in countless ways
We find them in the bowers
And keep them in a vase……

'We find them in the bowers'
(what a poignant write, dear Poet
couldn't help but try and poetically reply
thank you for sharing and inspiring my little scribble)
'born into a Time
that's stopped, smelling
nature's Flowers..'
instead we're sold
synthetic petals, in plastic bags
to adorn our floors
and colour our manmade mirage, occasions
then we wipe them away, free
of dirt or earth
marketed to be used and thrown away...
later
we drink our wines alone
look upon our dead gardens
'this Spring' we promise ourselves
'I'll definitely get started this Year'
we whisper, to that forgiving air
...
what greater compliment could i get than being able to inspire a person to compose a poem in response immediately. hats off to you for the lovely poem - and yes synthetic flowers, people and such stuff should definitely be wiped out asap..let us promise ourselves and mother earth to make her, and our life sustainable. Cheers
