iii.

verona

time passed slowly in the house we built,
now I have only myself to occupy tonight.
there's an open door to a once closed room,
by the hearth where we perform'd our sacred rites.
honey, i keep my eyes down with heavy head,
in my cold, dark room with its dim light.
for what use is there to leave my bed,
if I am not yours and you are not mine?

oh darling, as you stumble along,
do you ever wonder if we got something horribly wrong?

for there was the soul of something new here,
there's a stifling tension still in the atmosphere.
I don't know if it was all in my mind or if it was true,
but I do know I still think of you.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I totally borrowed the rhymes from Muna's Around U (verse 2, pre-chorus and chorus). Also, I want to point out that I'm Doing Fine. I'm just focusing on heartbreak as a subject for the aesthetic experience lol.
