Still Mom

Ben Lozier

Fall short
Phrygian knot.
Core wrought
Failed to comport
Fate’s lot.

Names, missed, gone.
Light is not.
Thoughts unthought.
Kneeled intercession.
Heaven besought.

Familial upright
In concrete filled
Brailled fields
Proceeds reunite
At garden untilled.

Lives held.
Precious kind.
Caregiver mind
Now felled
Reside in mine.

Far, far gone
Before you left
But not less.
Still mom
Please rest.
