Ruins of Time

SSRahman

An abandoned world deep within, where I visit often,

I visit often to remind myself how it felt, how it felt to be with you,

Or maybe I am just enslaved to your memories.

I see my old self singing under the endless sky,

And we prospering between those Highrise towers,

It’s the same sunshine, the same cool breeze,

but it doesn’t matter, as We from those times are not We from now.

These are the ruins of the city that didn’t flourish,

Or maybe it did for quite some time.

I gaze at the radiating moon portraying a mirror image of you,

And disappearing little by little into the clouds,

Well, there’s quite a similarity between you two.

I sit here on the coast of my heart and think and think long enough,

And I remember you sailing from this shore as if u were destined for some other,

Or maybe It was me who pulled up the anchor.

Ah, my dear, there is an impalpable ghost of yours existing here

keeping company to recall more of our truthful fairy tales.

The heavyweight of realization that this home of ours cannot thrive again nor be demolished,

Just like ancient ruins, chanting the history in silence.

I wonder, do you visit here sometimes too.
