Gleaming eyes

SmugglersGirl

Waiting in the shadows, I see the gleaming eyes.

Through the darkness looming, I see through your disguise.

The pain I once endured, was by your own design.

But the beauty of this life, is that I'm the one alive.

Inside me there's a light, brighter than your gleaming eyes.

Stronger than the flame you think you'll be able to extinguish.

The thoughts you put inside my head, bear no weight at all.

And no matter how loud your voice, I shall not need the call.

No matter how dark the depth, I shall not sink so low.

And when the darkness closes in, the stars will guide me home.

So close your gleaming eyes, you lurker in the dark, for I see through your disguise and I know your deadly plot.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I recovered from a painfully illness, and now it's trying to bring me down again. I am defiant against the monster lurking in the shadows, grinning at my every grimace, waiting for me to stumble.
