Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I will return early January.
I will return early January.
So come on now, roll up, roll up – get all your jabs in now;
Haven’t got a full number? An idiot takes a bow.
I’m old enough (yeh plenty) to remember polio -
Without a vaccine, iron lungs or death were all the go.
They were much simpler times when Salk and others cleared the way;
Don’t become a statistic in another plague today.

Well said! so true
Thanks Dove - I don't lecture very often (argue, to some folk's distress, yes) but here I felt was a good enough cause.
Yes indeed well said Dave
Thanks Neville - I confess to little understanding of what goes on in other's heads most times - not only vaccine hesitancy or direct non compliance, but demonstrations against any restrictions at all.
Lack of any historical consciousness again. " all right Dave, I think you have made that point" - Who said that?
I remember Iron Lungs (used to scare me half to hell) and Polio Camps (Summer Camps for the afflicted) Did great things, I remember getting my Polio shot, I was in the Navy then, and now I just laugh at the fools who refuse to cooperate. How many lives were wasted?
Your poem or PSA (Public Service announcement) I hope reaches a few resisters. Thanks for trying to help. - Phil A.
Thanks Phil - I just wish there was a shot which cured idiocy and obstinacy......

Thanks Thad - feels a little like history now - although I'd had my sixth shot by the time I had my recent covid, and plus the anti virials got off pretty lightly.
