Me. Clown.

Ben Lozier

Wake up. Go. The lights on. Pow!
Thoughts pour around a five liter tower
Funnel down through a cemetery mouth
Goes round, round, round and round
Repeat. Sleep. Repeat. Go out
Try to find the time. Get trounced
Wanna slow it down. Get drowned
Consume a mood. Medicated bounce
Saran wrap. Must preserve self
Cold. Shoulder. Slap. Ice house
Slide. Goo goo eyed mind… Nice blouse

Run down by time. Past now
Borrowed mine. Burrow under town
Finally find time to quiet down
Consciousness blindly dress. Me. Clown
Furious growl, ranting teeth grind
What’s left to be said left ingloriously behind
Head move. Peekaboo. Cuss at the line
Toe bruised. Seek to do else far beyond
Don’t focus on the pain I’ve got
Brain unbridled between gallop and trot
Nice blouse

Forward! A charge I made. No reason why
Trip, fail, again dismayed. Glories breeze by
Get up to chase right after it
Feet plant. Muscles flex
Shoulders squared. Heart set
Smoulders. Smoke. Charred briquette
As ready as I’ll ever get…

Nice blouse
