Trapped

Poet Lees

I sit here alone in this

dark depressing room

Staring at the padding

covering the walls like a tomb

A small dim bulb hangs down

casting eerie shadows in this space

While spiders roam all over the

filthy floor in this terrible place

Eerie cries from my brothers dying

haunt me day and night

I can still hear the bullets fly

As they fought back with all their might

The sounds fill my ears each day

and through the nights as well

Their screams continually keep me

in my own tormenting hell

None of them survived

that ruthless thrill of the hunt

But I did, and here’s why,

because I didn’t even grunt

I never stuck my head up,

I just kept it on the ground

I hid just like a coward

and never made a sound

I was taught early on

to stand up to the enemy

To keep my head up high

for I am royalty

But I knew the day would come

when they would hunt me down

I was captured and contained

and pushed into the ground

That’s when they threw me into

this dark depressing room

Where I stare at all the webs

that cover the walls like a tomb

Lying here, anxiously waiting

For the start of the grand opening

When people will stand and stare

Not even noticing

That the bars that I look out of

of are the ones that they look through

To see this mighty lion

That is trapped inside this zoo.

Those who lived amid wars can only understand this poem,
Those who never faced any war will think there is no problem?
A fine poetic description with perfect words' formation,
This clearly gives about war-climate a chilly information?
