Pesky Autumn Wind

Enola_Munch

We met one gloomy morning,

Right In front of the coffee shop

A breeze blew by and snatched my napkin

And I saw her cherry lips

Her cheeks were rosy from the chill

And crinkled by her smile

And all she really said was

“That pesky autumn wind”

Right there I was hooked

I had fallen

I was dead

In truth I was flabbergasted

Simply at what she said

And it was then I knew I was gone

And would never really return

The girl with cherry lips

Had firmly stole’ my heart

Days had turned to weeks

And weeks had turned to months

Her cheeks stopped being rosy

Her cherry lipstick forgot’

I hadn’t seen it coming

The storm the wind blew in

And I don’t know if I’d have rathered

Have known before the fling

Eventually she left

leaving cold in her wake

But I knew it’d take one word

And I’d once again be sinked’

Perhaps years later,

Or maybe in another life

she’d look again at me and say

“What pesky autumn wind”

She’ll say it with a smile

She’ll say it with a smirk

She’ll say it like there’s lime straight upon her lips

And again, I will be hers
