the last great war

GON

are you alone in the universe
trapped in that metal shell
or have the fires stopped burning
finally in the pits of hell?

a thousand years of fighting
in an endless river of war
when the last shot is fired
what was it all for?

the stars come down and rain on men
til all that remains is stick and stone
every building in the city
is filled with ashes and bone

cleanse the earth of filth and bile
and chase them to the last frame
now you see them in your dreams
now you've beaten the game

alone in the universe
nothing left to do
now the only enemy
is the one left in you
